Lumbe Pools camp is located on the eastern bank of the Zambezi River, 30km from Sioma Falls and approximately 300km from Livingstone. 

Despite its remote location, Lumbe Pools is accessible through a couple of transportation options. For details on how to get to Lumbe, see graphic below:

There are 3 ways of getting to Lumbe Pools:

Decide on which option would be best suited to you:

Fly to Livingstone

Fly commercially to Livingstone and we can book the road transfer from the airport to camp (drive time is approx 4.5 hours).

Fly to Kasane

You can fly commercially to Kasane and we book the road transfer from the airport into camp (drive time is approx 4 hours).

Private Charter

The quickest, most seemless option.We will arrange for a private charter to fly you from Livingstone to our nearest airstrip. We will collect you from there and transport you into camp.

The fourth option, which is not mentioned above is to drive yoursevles into campThis is very doable via Katima Mulilo or coming down from Mongu. We can provide directions and safe parking on the west bank of the Zambezi where we will collect you

Frequently Asked Questions

Before booking or travelling to Lumbe, you may have a few questions. We have tried our best to answer a few below, but if you have any more queries, please feel free to send us an email. 

DO I NEED A VISA TO ENTER ZAMBIA?

SADC visitors do not need a VISA to enter Zambia and Zambia has recently dropped VISA entry requirements for many international passport holders. Please enquire with us about your country’s VISA status to enter Zambia.

It is your responsibility to ensure your passport is valid for up to 6 months AFTER your departure date and has at least 2 spare blank pages.

DO I NEED TO BOOK MY OWN FLIGHT?

No, we can book your flight for you – just let us know in the booking process and we can take it from there. 

DO I NEED TO ARRANGE MY OWN ROAD TRANSFER?

No, we can arrange the road transfer for you. We work with experienced road transfer companies who will assist with border crossings. The meeting point with our team is a designated parking area on the west bank of the Zambezi. From here it is a 5 minute boat ride into camp.

approximate TRAVEL DISTANCES?

FROM LIVINGSTONE – Current timeframe is 5 – 5.5hrs. (We do NOT recommend this route due to the condition of the road.)

FROM KABULA AIRSTRIP (charters only) – About 30 mins.

FROM KASANE AIRPORT/KASANE TOWN –
Kasane Airport to Ngoma border post (45 – 60 mins)
Ngoma border post to Katima border post (90 mins including border crossing)
Katima border post to Lumbe parking bay (120 mins including border crossing)

DATES & SEASONS

Lumbe Pools Camp is open from 15 March - 10 January

You can visit Lumbe Pools between March and January but keep in mind that some of the activities will be better experienced at certain times of the year. Chat to us about what type of experience you're looking for and we can recommend when the best time to go would be.
